Marcia Cross told Felicity Huffman 'Desperate Housewives' was ending before creator March Cherry did

tbd-huffmancross080911.jpgRumors that ABC's Desperate Housewives may be ending its run have proven to be true, which is sad to the folks who still devote themselves to that melodramatic mess every Sunday. But look at it this way: At least you didn't work on the show and have to hear it from one of your costars first.

Felicity Huffman says that while the official announcement was made at an ABC press party Sunday night, she actually got the news from costar Marcia Cross, prompting tears at her kitchen table, consolation from husband William H. Macy and comfort from her 9-year-old daughter, you said, "It's okay, mama. You'll work again." Thanks, kid.

While Huffman said she's looking forward to what will happen to she and her friends in the upcoming eighth and final season -- "All bets are off. I think it's so great to bust the lid off," she told the AP -- Cross was the one who ended up embarrassed about telling Huffman before series creator Marc Cherry.

"Felicity is always on top of everything, while I'm usually four steps behind," said Cross, who was told by her manager. "It didn't occur to me that she didn't already know." Sounds like Felicity is the one who needs to be consulting her own manager about some things.
