Mario Lopez getting VH1 reality show in fall
As further proof television is trying to do away with all fictional programming entirely, Extra host Mario Lopez will be getting a reality show on VH1 this fall, the Hollywood Reporter says. It will be about a teenage actor who didn't fall into drugs, crime or a ruinous love life. Hey, maybe this is fiction after all.
The untitled show will feature the erstwhile Slater and girlfriend Courtney Mazza while they get ready to have their first baby, set against the backdrop of Lopez's hosting jobs on Extra and America's best Dance Crew.
"Our audience have watched Mario go from a kid in a fictional high school to a man who has succeeded in many different facets in the TV business," executive VP for original programming at VH1 Jeff Olde says. "This new series fits perfectly with VH1's programming because Mario's upcoming life changes reflect the same family milestones that many of our viewers are experiencing for the first time."
So far VH1 has ordered eight episodes, but people love kids and they seem to like Mario, so expect at least two more seasons.
