Mark Ruffalo is put on terrorist watch list over documentary 'Gasland'
As further proof authority has run amok in this country, actor Mark Ruffalo was placed on a terrorist watch list for ... trying to educate the public about the dangers of drilling for natural gas? Leave it to that good old nightmare of bureaucracy, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Ruffalo, who is in three upcoming pictures (including playing Bruce Banner in The Avengers), had been organizing local screenings of Gasland, a film that discusses the environmental hazards associated with a mining process known as fracking, Yahoo! says. The state's Department of Homeland Security decided that an actor conspiring to tell people how mining corporations poison groundwater was just a little too suspicious for everyone's own good.
Ruffalo told GQ he found the situation "kind of raaadical" and "funny," althought those aren't the words we'd use for a government that made you a possible enemy of the state just because you want people to see a Josh Fox documentary in which residents of a small town were able to set their drinking water on fire because it was so polluted.
