Matt Lauer, wife Annette deny split rumors
It seems we were a bit premature in our thirdhand report from the National Enquirer that the Today show host Matt Lauer moved out on his wife Annette, as the couple lambasted the dreaded and deceitful media for once again filling the public's heads with lies. What do you expect them to do, tell the truth about it?
"I am living in my apartment with Annette and my children as a family and a couple," Lauer told People from France, where he's hosting from the Cannes Film Festival. "I have never moved out. I am not moving out. There is no truth to that."Annette backed that up with "Out of self respect, I want to stand up for our family and protect them."
Lauer called the story "a work of fiction" and said the idea he cheated on his wife was "ridiculous" and "offensive," especially the part about him ditching his wife on Valentine's Day. He says Annette and their three children were with him at a skiing resort near Vancouver. He does admit to having marital problems, though.
"Have we had a completely perfect, easy marriage? No. But the stories you've read over the years are not true," Lauer said. "I don't think we're any different than any married couple that's been together for 12 years. The accusations (of infidelity) are ridiculous and I'm not going to (dignify) them with an answer. It's not true."
You know what else is not true? More than half the rumors and stupidity in The Juice* on a daily basis. But you're all smart enough to know that already, aren't you?
