Mattell makes Katniss Everdeen Barbie from 'The Hunger Games'

tbd-katnissbarbie041012.jpgEveryone is on Hunger Games overload by now, so Mattell has decided to pile on with their very own Katniss Everdeen Barbie doll, complete with bow and quiver and giant Mockingjay pin. That's a much better marketing decision than that version of Tippi Hedren from The Birds.

Designer Bill Greening said he's a total geek for the story, so he wanted the doll to look as much like Jennifer Lawrence's onscreen portrayal as possible: "I chose to dress her in the outfit she wears during the games, since this is where all the non-stop action takes place and is instantly recognizable by fans," he told Entertainment Weekly. "I am a huge Hunger Games fan and loved all three books, so it was truly an amazing experience for me to be able to design the Katniss Barbie doll."

The doll went on sale Monday at noon Eastern for a mere $29.95 (you can check it out at We're expecting it to be sold out by the time you actually get around to reading this, so we hope you didn't want one.
