McG wants to keep Moon Bloodgood's breasts in Terminator: Salvation
We've been pretty down on remakes and endless sequels in The Juice*, but now something has happened to make us think that Terminator: Salvation has a shot: Director McG is fighting Warner Bros. demands that a topless scene with actress Moon Bloodgood be cut. What integrity!
In coverage of a panel on the movie at WonderCon in San Francisco, Wired says the studo may be hunting for a PG-13 rating to get more butts in seats when the flick hits theaters in May. No R rating? The movie is called Terminator, after all; it's about robots that dismember and shoot people, so how is erasing a couple breasts going to help?
"Do you want to see Moon's boobs in the picture?" McG asked the mostly male geek crowd, with the actress sitting right next to him, along with Common, Anton Yelchin and Bryce Dallas Howard. They apparently answered in the affirmative.
The scene is supposed to portray a strong female figure (in the metaphorical sense), and even Bloodgood was okay with it: "I didn't think it was gratuitous, and I didn't think it was demeanding. I thought it was beautiful."
But as the ratings board goes, you can blow up a million people, but if one is naked, fuhgeddaboutit.
