Medellin Cartel wanted to kill Danielle Staub

tbd-daniellestaub092410.jpgFormer cast member of The Real Housewives of New Jersey Danielle Staub may have been detestable on the show, but that's nothing compared to what has happened in her past. Testimony from a deposition obtained in the slander suit filed by her ex-husband Kevin Maher reveals a drug cartel wanted her dead, RadarOnline says. At least we're just using metaphors when we say that.

Medellin Cartel enforcer Daniel Aguilar, who is a witness for Maher's case (Maher's suing because Staub apparently falsely claimed he raped her on top of broken glass and hanged her dog), said he knew Staub in the 1980s as a hooker with two kids and a raging cocaine habit named Angela Minelli. She would do drugs at his safe house often, but eventually said she wanted to sell them, too.

"She started talking about, you know, 'I need to get money. I need money to do things. So she came to me and she says, 'I have this guy and he wants to buy big weight ... four kilos of cocaine," Aguilar said in court documents. Unfortunately, the deal went south when the $100,000 worth of coke was stolen. "Even my men were saying, 'We should just kill her. Get her out of the way. She's nothing but a prostitute and a b----.'"

But Aguilar was a drug runner with a heart of gold, putting up the $100k and talking the kingpins into sparing her life.

"I cared about this woman at the time and I believed her at this point," he said. "I didn't want her life to end ... I still thought that it was going to work out."

Aguilar was eventually convicted of extortion and intent to distribute, winding up in prison for nine years. Staub cooperated with prosecutors and got away with five years' probation and mandatory drug testing, but Aguilar's people said "she was dead," meaning "her life was about to end" for becoming a federal witness. At the very least, he wants his $100k back.

"Ain't nobody that stupid enough to make themselves publicly known after doing what they did," he said. Obviously he hasn't been watching reality TV lately.
