Megan Fox may replace Angelina Jolie in 'new' Tomb Raider movie
If Hollywood isn't busy remaking movies these days, the buzzword has become "reboot" -- as in, continuing a franchise by pretending every other movie doesn't matter. The latest to reportedly get this treatment: Tomb Raider, which will likely continue without Angelina Jolie.
The Hollywood Reporter says Warner Bros. and producer Dan Lin are considering that very possibility. Lin and co-producer Stephen Gilchrist are planning to take film rights from Paramount, which made Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, and start over.
E! hypothesizes the new story would retell the Lara Croft origin story, perhaps making her American. They also speculate that Megan Fox is the leading choice for the title role. So really, they're making an entirely different movie about an entirely different character who happens to have the same name. Studio accountants are tallying losses already.
