Mel Gibson shrugs off scandal, survey shows
You may think Mel Gibson's career is over, but oh no, that's just not so. According to a new poll, 76 percent of Americans think he's cool as can be, despite the anti-Semitism, casually racist conversation and random verbal and physical abuse of the woman with whom he had a baby after cheating on his wife. And he's not even a politician!
Vanity Fair and 60 Minutes teamed up to ask moviegoers, "Are you now less likely to go see a Mel Gibson movie as a result of the recent scandal?" Besides the total of 76 percent saying no, the answers broke down to 80 percent men and 72 percent of women saying it wouldn't bother them. Only 20 percent said yes, less likely. The other four percent were too busy fighting the Humungus to answer.
The telephone interview was conducted among 847 random adults between Aug. 3-5. We can only guess the margin of error was + or - 60 percent.
