M.I.A. splits from fiance Benjamin Bronfman, doesn't visit son Ikhyd
While Brit singer M.I.A. was busy flipping people the bird at the Super Bowl halftime show, her life behind the scenes seems to be falling apart. Not only has she split from fiance Benjamin Bronfman, she's left New York for her London hometown, which means she hardly ever sees their son, Ikhyd Edgar Arular Bronfman. His third birthday is on Saturday, so maybe she could be in the Big Apple for that one, at least.
The New York Daily News says that while Benjamin's mom, Sherry Bronfman, helps to raise the tot, M.I.A. (nee Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam) "sometimes goes six weeks without seeing" her boy. She and Ben, who is the former guitarist for The Exit and heir to the Seagram fortune, bought a house in L.A. back in 2009, but apparently don't live there.
This is really nothing big in the grand scheme of problems M.I.A. has had. Remember how she fought with that New York Times reporter who dared to print quotes from her apparently supporting Sri Lankan terrorist group the Tamil Tigers (her parents are of Tamil descent, and her comments got her in trouble with U.S. immigration then) and making up things about her background and lifestlye. To which The Juice* says: Blame the Daily News, Maya, and not us.
