Michael Douglas says he'll beat cancer

Michael Douglas gives his first public response to his diagnosis of throat cancer, telling People he plans to fight and win. That's good, because we expect the 65-year-old to live at least as long as 93-year-old dad Kirk.

"I'll beat this," is the quote from the actor, who gives the mag an exclusive interview, which they're obviously keeping under wraps to sell more issues. Douglas will have to undergo eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy to treat the tumor.

Douglas hasn't been doing promotional appearances for his next movie, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, but it will still open on Sept. 24. With any luck he'll be back in the saddle for the special tribute you know the Academy Awards will be featuring.
