Mickey Rourke's chihuahua Loki dies at 18

Tbdmickeyrourkeloki021909 Sad news that we all care about: Mickey Rourke's chihuahua, Loki, died Monday night, E! reports. The poor li'l pup was a very respectable 18 years old.

Rourke is unabashedly attached to his dogs, calling Loki the "love of my life" at the Venice Film Festival in September and thanking all his mutts, living and dead, in his Golden Globe acceptance speech last month.

He gave Barbara Walters some insight into his passion for pooches for her post-Oscars interview special: "I sort of self-destructed and everything came out about 14 years ago or so ... the wife had left, the career was over, the money was not an ounce," he said. "The dogs were there when no one else was there."

Rourke also recalls being passed out in a closet when his dog Lowjack sparked an epiphany.

"He made a sound, like a little almost human sound. I don't have kids, the dogs became everything to me. The dog was looking at me going, 'Who's going to take care of me?' "

Aw, now Mickey seems like so much more of a human being and not a cartoon character who wears awful clothes and slobbers all over Bai Ling at parties. What a guy.
