'Millionaire Matchmaker' Patti Stanger offends Jews, gays and other key demographics
Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger may have misjudged her audience Sunday night, insulting gays and Jews during an interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live. Well, at least something happened, amirite?
Patti insisted gays are incapable of maintaining relationships, telling a gay caller, "In the gay world, it will always be open," and lamenting, "I've tried to curb you people." (Video from AOLTV is above.) Cohen took exception to this, of course, prompting Stanger to burst out laughing and demanding to know how long it had been since he had a steady boyfriend (he had a three-year relationship six years ago, for the record, but it's not like Patti has done any better). She also added another gay caller looked straight and didn't seem "queeny."
Another caller complained her dates were only telling her what she wanted to hear, so Patti asked, "Are they Jewish?" The importance of that being, she said, because "they lie." Smooth. "So I'm a non-monogamous liar," Cohen retorted. How uncomfortable.
If you think this is just Patti being Patti, keep in mind that Twitter exploded, with the hashtag #CancelStanger reaching the top 10. And you know how Bravo loves to listen to popular opinion. Stanger seemed too clueless to understand that she was being raged against, tweeting via @pattistanger, "Love that I was trending last night between Packers & Sisterwives!" But for how long, Patti? For how long?
