Miss America won't testify because she's, like, too busy or something. Whatever.
A sex sting that used Miss America Lauren Nelson as bait may fall apart because the crowned one won't testify, the AP reports. The 20-year-old Oklahoma native worked with police in Suffolk County, N.Y., to nab sexual predators on the InterWebs and taped it for an episode of America's Most Wanted. Eleven men were busted when she posed as a teen online and lured creepy types to a home where police were waiting. But now Nelson says she's not coming back to Long Island to testify, according to a report in Newsday, and most (if not all) of the cases could founder. Given that she's the cornerstone of each charge, that could make things difficult for prosecutors. But hey, she's got radio talk shows to do, right? She may end up in court anyway, though, because Michael Brown, who represents one of the 11 men charged, says his client has the right to have her cross-examined testimony entered into the record because she may have spoken to him before his arrest. "You've now made Miss America a witness," he said. [Photo: AP]
