Miss USA Rima Fakih was a champion pole dancer
For some reason everyone expects the contestants in the Miss USA pageant to be squeaky clean little angels, so everyone seems to be unjustifiably aghast that Sunday night's winner, Miss Michigan Rima Fakih has pole dancing skills that would make Joe Redner jealous. People, you do realize this is a competition that started as a bikini contest back in 1952, right?
TMZ notes that the 24-year-old was the winner in the Stripper 1010 pole dancing contest for Detroit radio show Mojo in the Morning back in 2007. The prizes for her big debut included "jewelry, gift cards, adult toys and a stripper pole for home use." But hey guess what? She kept her clothes on the whole time and the event was attended only by women. (Go here for photos of the event.) So what's the big deal?
Never mind she's a Lebanese immigrant who moved Stateside in 1993 and sold her car after graduation to pay her pageant run, we have to be outraged by something a college senior did for a few extra bucks. The Juice* saw things that would derail careers way worse back at the Royal Grove in Lincoln, Neb., in our college days. Not that Mrs. Juice* would know anything about that.
