Nah, Sir Ian McKellen doesn't have prostate cancer, agent says
Remember yesterday how we told you Sir Ian McKellen had prostate cancer, and that had us all worried, and then we read more and he said it's been contained and he's fine? Yeah, well, that's all a load, because his agent says he doesn't have cancer. Can you not believe the gossip press anymore?
"No, he does not have prostate cancer. … That was taken out of context and from an interview from years ago," agent Chris Andrews told ABC News. The report originally surfaced in the U.K.'s Sun. Andrews said McKellen's appearance at the world premiere of The Hobbit was proof the 73-year-old isn't sick (although the actor's quotes didn't make it sound like he was at all hobbled by the alleged condition).
His rep firm in the U.K., CLD Communications, confirmed what Andrews said as well. So even though McKellen said he'd had prostate cancer for six or seven years but was doing fine, that's not right? What interview "from years ago" was this? You'd think we'd all remember Gandalf saying that. And furthermore, how is it one British rag can write an apparently years-old story, then the entire world gets wind of it in only a few hours? Bless this Information Age; Truly, a time of wonders!
