NBC not paying Paris for interview (wink, wink)

Tbdparis062507 NBC News denied that it was bidding a whopping $1-million for first crack at interviewing Paris Hilton after she’s released from jail, Reuter and the AP report.

On Thursday, the New York Post said the network had outbid ABC for a sit-down with the jailbird in an interview on the Today show, but such is not the case, an NBC flack said. “NBC News has not and will not pay for interviews,” spokeswoman Allison Gollust said.

Still, sources tell the Hollywood Reporter that an offer worth nearly seven figures was in fact made, possibly through NBC Entertainment. That would imply a common network runaround, wherein they can say they are licensing video and still images, and not paying for interviews.

But an NBC Entertainment spokesperson insists they don’t have an agreement in place, and even Hilton’s camp denies the report. “Paris Hilton is not being paid for any television interview,” the spokesman said. “Nor is Paris being paid for any collateral, including video and photographs related to any television interview.”

But is she still getting a reported $300,000 from Getty Images to be photographed for print? That’s what the Post says. Hey, whatever helps NBC execs sleep at night.
