NBC will change 'Up All Night' format for 1 episode
While we all wait with bated breath to see if Up All Night will finally bite the dust following Christina Applegate's resignation, it seems NBC isn't giving up just yet. The show will film a single multi-camera episode sans Applegate to try it out, instead of the five originally ordered. We can already tell you, the network better start praying to St. Jude now, because this one is a lost cause.
James Burrows will direct the show, which will be shot in front of a live audience, and may benefit from having an Applegate replacement or not, Deadline.com says. One rumor is that Lisa Kudrow could take over the mommy role. The site says that Will Arnett and Maya Rudolph are getting offers to do other pilots in the meantime.
NBC didn't comment for the report, but they really don't have to. The original premise, star and format of the show are deader than the flat tax, so why bother trying to improve a show no one is watching? They could just film a reality show behind the scenes and call it a day for Up All Night.
