New Jersey cops don't recognize Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan has always been one to follow his own drummer, but it seems two cops in New Jersey stopped the performer before a concert because he looked a little too weird, E! reports. Guilty as charged.
The 68-year-old was stopped by a 24-year-old constable in Long Branch on July 23 because police had been called that a strange-looking man "wearing black sweatpants tucked into black rain boots, and two raincoats with the hood pulled down over his head" was rambling around a neighborhood. Dylan identified himself, but both the cop and another officer, also in his 20s, didn't know who the icon was, and Dylan didn't have any ID. Bob Dylan? Who's that?
"We see a lot of people on our beat, and I wasn't sure if he came from one of our hospitals or something," one of the cops said. It didn't seem to matter that Dylan said he killing time before he was due to play with Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp in Lakewood later that night.
They drove Dylan back to the hotel he was staying at, where staff produced a passport. Dylan apparently wasn't upset about the incident, but frankly, we're embarassed for the cops.
