Nicolas Cage owes IRS $6.2 million in taxes
Nicolas Cage is in hot water with the IRS, which placed a $6,257,005 lien against the actor on July 14 for alleged unpaid income tax for 2007. You'd think he could afford it, with such great hits as Ghost Rider and Knowing.
The Detroit News says the lien was placed on Cage's $3.55 million mansion in New Orleans, which is up for sale at the same time as his $35 million Hollywood home. Sounds like someone wants to move offshore permanently.
Cage has run afoul of the IRS before -- he agreed to pay $666,000 plus interest in back taxes and penalties last September over bad deductions. You mean you can't claim losses on movies that bomb as personal expenses?
