Nicole Kidman will be playing first transsexual
Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron starring in a movie as Danish lovers? How hot is that? Except it's a very serious movie called The Danish Girl, in which Kidman will play Einar Wegener, the world's first post-op transsexual.
The Hollywood Reporter says Shopgirl's Anand Tucker is on board to direct the film which is being adapted from David Ebershoff's 2000 novel, which was a fictionalized version of the true events.
Einer Wegener stood in for a female model for his wife Greta's paintings, but when the portraits became very popular in the 1920s, Great encouraged her husband to keep up the act. That led Einar to eventually undergo the first-ever gender reassignment surgery in 1931.
Pre-production has begun on the indie, the Hollywood Reporter says, but there are no concrete details on shooting, let alone a release date.
