Nicole Kidman wouldn't use N-word for Lee Daniels in 'The Paperboy'
Director Lee Daniels, as we've all heard, is an artiste who likes to push his actors, but Nicole Kidman pushed back on The Paperboy when he wanted her to call a black costar the N-word on film. As if making her put her own makeup on wasn't hard enough.
"I didn't feel like it was right for the character," she told a press conference at the New York Film Festival on Wednesday, according to the L.A. Times. "I have a son who's African American and I just didn't feel it was right. It wasn't right."
Daniels complained to his producer that Kidman wasn't doing what he wanted, but the producer told him it was bad enough that Kidman had already agreed to do a sex scene and urinate on Zac Efron, so maybe he should back off. Wow, this sure sounds like the kind of movie a mass audience will be champing at the bit to see, doesn't it?
