Oprah Winfrey is the most generous of all
Say what you want about Oprah Winfrey's politics or inability to pump her own gasoline, but the woman did manage to give away more than $50 million to charities last year. Parade magazine joined The Giving Back Fund to compile a list of the most generous stars, and O tops the charts.
Her donations to The Oprah Winfrey Foundation and Oprah's Angel Network put her over the top, providing education and healthcare to women and kids all over the globe. That's a whole lot more than even Herb Alpert, who came in a distant second at $13 million, still a lot to give music programs.
Barbra Streisand ($11 million to her foundation), Paul Newman ($10 million to alma mater Kenyon College) and Mel Gibson ($9.9 million to the Holy Family Church in Malibu) round out the top five.
The rest of the top 10 are Brangelina ($8.4 million to their foundation, New Orleans reconstruction, refugee aid and more); Michael Jordan ($5 million to a historically black boys' school in Chicago), hockey player Eric Lindros ($5 million to a Canadian hospital that treated him for his numerous concussions), Lance Armstrong ($5 million to cancer research) and the biggest surprise, Rush Limbaugh ($4.2 million to the families of Marines and cops killed in the line of duty).
If any of these celebs would like to make a donation to The Juice* Foundation, we can be reached at the above e-mail address.
