Orlando Bloom gets honorary degree from hometown school

orlandobloom.jpgOrlando Bloom has it all: A major-league movie career, a Victoria's Secret model fiancee, an English accent ... now add to that a degree from the University of Kent. Don't feel too bad, because that last one is only honorary.

The 33-year-old actor showed up on campus Tuesday in a red gown and mortarboard with more than 340 other graduates to accept a degree from his hometown school. He was born in Canterbury in Kent, about 60 miles from London, the AP reports.

He previously missed his graduation from London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama because he was already working, shooting a little shoestring production called The Lord of the Rings.

"It's a really big deal. It's an exciting day for me. I'm really honored to be back in my hometown. I have so many amazing memories of the cathedral and Canterbury," Bloom told the BBC. "I have lived near the university so it's like my playground."

Yes, fiancee Miranda Kerr was there, as were his parents and his sister Samantha. It's not like they had far to drive.
