Outkast's Big Boi buys daughter a record label for her 16th birthday
The Juice* remembers back to our 16th birthday, when we wanted a new car and a night out with friends, instead getting a night shift at the local KFC where we worked and gifted a 1979 Ford Fairmont. Oh, to be the daughter of Outkast's Big Boi, 16-year-old Jordan Patton, who got a new record label, Purple Kidz for her big day!
"My daughter just turned 16 years old, and you can see it on MTV's (My Super Sweet Sixteen), where they get cars, and things that depreciate and just don't mean nothing," 36-year-old Antwan Patton told Billboard about the gift. "I wanted to give my child something that she can grow and build and nurture. So I gave her her own label."
Purple Kidz already has a first artist, signing 12-year-old Gabbie Rae, whom you may recall from an episode of The Tyra Banks Show. Jordan and daddy are the only two partners on the marquee, which will complement Big Boi's Purple Ribbon All-Stars label. The biggest upside: The possibility of Andre Benjamin showing up to record a track or two. Oh look, Uncle Andre 3000 is here!
