Paramount searches for director for 'Dune' remake
Being part of the few people who think David Lynch's 1984 translation of Dune had merit, The Juice* raised our eyebrows at news that a remake is in the works. After that SciFi Channel miniseries with William Hurt, we'll try anything.
Pajiba.com says that Paramount has taken on the Frank Herbert novel, letting Josh Zetumer (who is allegedly working on the next Bourne movie) write the script last summer. But Friday Night Lights' director Peter Berg has backed out of the project. The solution: letting either District 9's Neill Blomkamp or The Descent's Neil Marshall take over the helm. Either way would be interesting.
That's right, we said it: This is a remake we could actually watch, especially since it reportedly has a $175 million budget. But these rumors that Robert Pattinson could play Paul Atreides gives us a little heartburn.
