Paris finds a purpose

Okay, okay, The Juice* is running a little behind today, so let's get you all caught up.

Could it be that Paris Hilton has seen the light? The heirhead called Barbara Walters from jail Sunday night, wanting to talk to the telejournalist about her experiences and get more exposure, and Babs graciously let The View’s audience in on the discussion on Monday’s show (see the clip above).

“I’m not the same person I was,” Hilton told Walters. “I used to act dumb. It was an act. I am 26 years old, and that act is no longer cute. It is not who I am, nor do I want to be that person for the young girls who looked up to me.

“I know now that I can make a difference, that I have the power to do that. I have been thinking that I want to do different things when I am out of here. I have become much more spiritual. God has given me this new chance.”

That would be stellar of her to use her newfound powers for good, and the prison princess said she wanted to help in the fields of breast cancer or multiple sclerosis (diseases that attacked her grandmothers), or even build a “Paris Hilton playhouse” for sick children — we imagine a tiny Coach shop, next to a wee version of Pure.

But fie on our cynicism, because Paris truly is a changed woman. She didn’t even complain about not being allowed to use moisturizer, even though her skin is oh-so-dry.

“I’m not that superficial girl,” she told Walters. “I haven’t looked in the mirror since I got here.”

Of course, that’s because they most likely don’t allow mirrors either, but at least ol’ girl is trying.

BTW, Francis supports Hilton

Girls Gone Wild mastermind Joe Francis tells TMZ he’s doing great at Washoe County (Nev.) Detention Center, and feels he and Paris Hilton share a bond in being celebrities picked on because of their status.

“If her name was Jane Doe and everything else in the case remained unchanged, she would never have served a day in jail,” he writes. “I empathize with Paris, because I believe I too would not still be in jail were it not for my ‘high profile status.’ ”

Well, that and the alleged tax evasion, and possible filming of naked minors, and all that mess.
