Paris Hilton pleads guilty to misdemeanor drug charge, gets probation but not jail, of course
We're gonna make this as quick and painless as possible: Paris Hilton will not be going to jail for being busted in Las Vegas with a purse full of cocaine on Aug. 27. Oh, suprising, isn't it?
Thanks to a deal worked out by attorney David Chesnoff, Hilton pleaded guilty in court Monday to misdemeanor drug possession and obstructing an officer, TMZ says, instead of the felony she was charged with. In return, she gets a year of probation, $2,000 in fines, 200 hours of community service and has to enroll in a substance abuse program. Stop us if you've heard these slaps on the wrist before.
The judge said if Paris violated her probation for anything besides a minor traffic violation, she'd get a year in the Clark County jail in Nevada, which "is not the Waldorf Astoria." Get it? The judge was being funny. As for what Paris said, who cares? It's just another rich person walking away from a crime that would land any one of us in the pokey, dear readers. That's what we get for breaking our Paris Hilton ban.
