Patton Oswalt auctioning of free Carvel ice cream card for charity
Comedian Patton Oswalt is putting other people's money where his mouth once was, auctioning off his Carvel Black Card for charity. Hey, he's been saying for years he wanted to lose some weight.
The Black Card, which entitles the bearer to 75 years of free ice cream (actually $25 worth each week), is up for bids on eBay now. Oswalt has promised that proceeds of the sale will go to the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank as part of Comedy Death-Ray's Xmas Nativity Pageant Benefit, TMZ reports. Carvel is supporting the sale and transfer of ownership of the card to the winning bidder; only 75 such cards exist, and have been doled out to various celebrities.
The bidding has already topped $5,000 as of Wednesday afternoon, but that's still way less than the card's total value of about $97,5000, minus whatever Patton's already stuffed in his craw. We're sure his new daughter Alice, who was born in April, will be none too pleased to hear he gave it away once she's old enough to start liking ice cream. There's always Black Angus.
