Paula Abdul's inevitable breakdown caught on tape
Paula Abdul’s days on American Idol are just chock full of drama. The New York Post somehow found an audio tape of a conference call the judge was apparently having with publicists in which the former singer and dancer bawls her eyes out over her current situation — being a host of medical issues, her lack of pampering and her hatred of ex-rep Howard Bragman.
“I’ve never been treated this way and I’ve never seen anybody treated this way,” Abdul wails. “This is just too much to stomach.” But it’s all good, right? “You will be treated better starting right now,” her listeners soothingly coo during the call.
Abdul recently lied to fans about tripping over her chihuahua and breaking her nose (she actually smashed a glass against the wall an was cut by the ensuing projectiles) and apparently is suffering from several health problems, including Addison’s disease, an adrenal disorder.
“I’ve been going through tremendous amounts of a difficult time,” she says, later digging into Bragman. “I do a call-in every week for OK! Magazine on American Idol. Because of my brilliant job, they want to do a cover on me. I’m being told by Howard Bragman that I’m too old and no one will ever want to do a cover. ... I don’t understand how this man can call me a whining bitch. I’ve never in my life been called a whining bitch and a loser.” Well, not to your face, anyway.
