'The Playboy Club' is first new show canceled
It's already time for the honored tradition of the burying of the new TV programs. This season's first victim: The Playboy Club. That's not really suprising in the least, though.
Entertainment Weekly says steadily declining ratings numbers in the 1960s-era drama doomed the NBC show after a mere three weeks. It only garnered 3.4 million viewers Monday night, because really, who puts a tame show about Playboy bunnies on opposite Monday Night Football? It will be replaced by Rock Center With Brian Williams on Oct. 31.
Two other shows got picked up for a full season, however: Comedies Whitney with Whitney Cummings and Up All Night starring Christina Applegate and Will Arnett both got the nod. The Juice* is already long married with a newborn, so neither of these shows are on the Juice*dar -- we don't want to watch what we already live.
