Quincy Jones wants to re-record 'We Are the World'
Remakes are all the rage today, mostly because we suspect our populace is incapable of original thought at this point, so why wouldn't famous songs be fodder, as well? That must be why Quincy Jones is talking about re-recording We Are the World to help Haitian earthquake victims.
"It's the 25th anniversary and it's perfect timing," Jones told E!. "It's not an accident, man. That's God. It will be We Are the World for Haiti."
WE think he just implied that there will be another world catastrophe in 25 years. Good thing the world will end in 2012. Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, Will Smith, Jason Mraz, Sugarland, Sheryl Crow, Mya and Justin Bieber may be on the guest list, although Jones says he wants to "get a final list" before he puts it out. Can't they just re-engineer a version with Michael Jackson in it? The Internet can do that, right?
