Radar insists Will Smith, Jada are Scientologists
For some reason, celeb-watchers love to gab about Scientology taking over Hollywood, and since Will Smith and Jada Pinkett hang out with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, there must be a full-scale conversion effort aimed at the Fresh Prince and family.
That's what Radar is implying, anyway, with it April cover story. In fact, the entire black community is in the recruiting crosshairs: "The Church has also set its sights on African Americans, opening up a center in Harlem in 2003 and making a strong play for Hollywood supercouple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett," the article reads.
MSNBC's The Scoop says a Smith rep claims this isn't the case, but a source tells the column Will is indeed converting. "He’s been getting more and more involved (in Scientology),” their source said. “And it isn’t just him, it’s definitely Jada, too."
So what's wrong with that?
"It’s not so much that anyone is upset that Will is becoming a Scientologist," the source continued. "It’s that as he becomes more involved, you’d think he’d sort of help fly the flag with Tom (Cruise), who seems to only get a bad rap for it, while Will does this and comes through just fine."
Whatever. Just so long as Will and Tom don't try to remake Battlefield Earth or anything, we'll be fine.
