Randy Jackson may become Mariah Carey's manager
Randy Jackson is apparently in the middle of deal negotiations to become Mariah Carey's new manager, the Hollywood Reporter says in what they call an exclusive. Although the idea Mimi's occasional producer, songwriter and bass player becoming her manager isn't really all that shocking, is it?
With absolutely no details to back up the claim, THR says Carey has left Chris Lighty's Violator Entertainment, which merged with Primary wave in September. They do say that Jackson was with her during filming on Nov. 2 of the music video to go with her All I Want For Christmas Is You duet with Justin Bieber, then meeting with folks at Mariah's label. "He's very much in the mix," an unnamed source said to make it sound like they knew something.
Well, he's in the mix quite literally: He produced her 2010 Christmas album, Merry Christmas II You, and has worked as producer or percussionist or composer on songs for Glitter, and her albums Charmbracelet and The Emancipation of Mimi. Sounds like he's been her de facto manager in some sense for years, so it's not like they're not known to hang out together. Expect an offical announcement in a bit.
