Ray Park cast as Snake Eyes in 'G.I. Joe'
As children of the ’80s, we at The Juice* have taken a great interest in news about the upcoming G.I. Joe movie, so we jumped SlashFilm.com’s report that Ray Park has been cast as toy line stalwart Snake Eyes in the upcoming Stephen Sommers vehicle.
You’ll remember Park as Darth Maul from Star Wars: Episode 1, last seen being cut in half by Ewan McGregor, as well as Toad in X-Men and the Headless Horseman in Sleepy Hollow. While Park is a short (5-foot-9) Scot with a fairly squeaky voice, he knows plenty of martial arts and Darth Maul was easily the coolest character from the three prequels.
Since fan-fave ninjitsu master Snake Eyes is both mute and never shows his face, that adds up to an acceptable casting choice. It’s certainly better than the studio’s pick of Sienna Miller as the Baroness.
