'Real Housewives of New York City' star Kelly Killoren Bensimon arrested for assaulting boyfriend
We just knew there was something off about the newest member of the coven on Real Housewives of New York City: Kelly Killoren Bensimon was arrested last week for misdemeanor assault after beating up her boyfriend, the New York Daily News reports. No Chris Brown jokes, please.
Bensimon, 40, was charged after he 30-year-old boyfriend, Nicholas Stefanov called police, saying she punched him "with a closed fist, thereby causing informant to suffer a laceration below informant's left eye and substantial pain," the police report read.
Kelly says it isn't so, but turned herself into police last Thursday, two days after the incident.
"The allegations are by a jilted lover saying she struck him during the course of an argument," her lawyer Stephen Turano said. "We deny the charges, and we are hopeful this will be resolved."
Stefanov says he still loves his abuser (ain't that the way?), but he called police to get the incident on the record, and didn't plan to press charges. Too bad for him, though; the law says the cops have to charge her and filed a restraining order on Stefanov's behalf.
"She is a great girl. I do want to work it out. But what are you supposed to do when a girl is hitting you, just sit there like a punching bag?" Stefanov said. Uhm, sit there and take it, if you're a real man. Besides, the report says Bensimon was courteous enough to remove her engagemnt ring before she "sucker-punched" him. Of course, that was just to give it back to that wuss ...
