Ricky Gervais is probably banned from the Golden Globes

It sounds like no one in Hollywood is laughing after Ricky Gervais' hosting gig at Sunday night's Golden Globes, with at least one source already saying the Brit will never be asked to host again. What, making fun of Robert Downey Jr., Hugh Hefner, Charlie Sheen, Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Steve Carrell and Scientologists is a no-no or something?

"Ricky will not be invited back to host the show next year, for sure," a member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association told PopEater's Rob Shuter. The creator of The Office apparently ran afoul of organization honcho Philip Berk, especially when he joked The Tourist was made so he could hang out with Jolie and Depp. "For sure any movie he makes he can forget about getting nominated. He humiliated the organization last night and went too far with several celebrities whose representatives have already called to complain."

Gervais started the show by saying "It's going to be a night of partying and heavy drinking -- or as Charlie Sheen calls it, breakfast," so you could see where things were headed. He then lost the crowd after saying Ewan McGregor's and Jim Carrey's performances in I Love You, Phillip Morris was "two heterosexual actors pretending to be gay. So, the complete opposite of some famous Scientologists, then."

While The Juice* thought he was hilarious, Hollywood isn't known to really have a sense of humor about its outsized egos. Downey even went so far as to call Ricky out after his intro, saying the evening had "been hugely mean-spirited with mildly sinister undertones."

Gervais, meanwhile, didn't think he'd be getting a third stint as Globes host anyway, but didn't intend to ruffle so many oversensitive feathers: "For three hours every year, Hollywood is scared to death of me. It's great," he told "I just did what I do."

If you want to see some of the things Ricky said, watch the video above. Then say goodbye, because celebrities are pretty vengeful, and won't forget what Gervais said anytime soon.
