Rumor update: Cheryl Cole off 'X Factor,' Katie Couric gets ABC talk show
There's a couple of rumors that are no longer rumors in Celebrityville, namely that Cheryl Cole is off the U.S. version of The X Factor and that Katie Couric is getting her own talk show on MTV. If these sound familiar, that's because we've written about them before, only now they're officially official.
First, Fox confirmed Nicole Scherzinger still will be replacing Cole, who reportedly got the boot because of concerns no Yank would be able to understand her Newcastle accent. The Hollywood Reporter is saying producers expect to pay her $1.5 million contract option and send her packing back to England. It's hard to get upset over losing a steak you never got your fork into in the first place.
Secondly, ABC announced Monday that former CBS news anchor Couris will be getting a daytime, syndicated talk show on the network, which we'd also heard before. The new effort will be on at 3 p.m. when it starts in September 2012. That gives us plenty of time to plan on not watching that, either.
