Ryan Seacrest signs two-year extension for 'American Idol'
Not content with taking over solo duties for New Years Rockin' Eve after Dick Clark died, Ryan Seacrest has just signed a deal to continue to host American Idol for two more seasons. Because you have to keep dancing with the date you brung with ya.
Seacrest is keeping the same terms as his previous, three-year deal, which netted him a cool $15 million per year, Variety reports. "For the last 11 seasons, I've had the privilege to be a part of one of television's most iconic shows. It's been a wild ride, and I'm excited for my journey with American Idol to continue," Seacrest said.
Ryan is also working on a deal with NBC Universal to cover this summer's Olympics, among other things, so expect his annual income to go up even higher. It's enough to make you glad he didn't get Matt Lauer's job on the Today show.
