Sandra Bullock adopts a baby, files for divorce from Jesse James
As if this hasn't already been a year of milestone overload for Sandra Bullock, the 45-year-old actress has adopted a newborn son and is filing for divorce from cheating Nazi-loving hubby Jesse James, People reports. Let's get to the better of the good news first.
People magazine has the exclusives that Sandy has adopted Louis Bardo Bullock, a 3 1/2-month-old boy from New Orleans (see that, Brangelina? There's plenty of American kids who need parents). She and her soon-to-be ex-husband started the adoption process four years ago and brought the tyke home in January, but propagated a coverup worthy of your local Congressman.
"He's just perfect; I can't even describe him any other way," Bullock told the mag. And motherhood is agreeing with her quite well.
"You wake up, you feed, you burp, you play, you do laundry," she said of caring for the boy, who is named after jazz legend Louis Armstrong. "I'm still in that stage where I'm just amazed with him and at life. All I said when I met him was, 'Oh, there you are.' It was like he had always been a part of our lives."
James already has kids Sunny, 6, Jesse Jr., 12, and Chandler, 15, from prior relationships, but the whole family kept it a secret.
"Just the doctors' visits were filled with decoys and dark cars," she said. "People that I had worked with for years couldn't understand why I wouldn't let them into my house for (Oscar ceremony gown) fittings."
Now that Jesse's out on his arse, Bullock is finalizing the adoption as a single parent. Speaking of which, People also reported Wednesday that that the couple are officially splitting.
"Yes, I have filed for divorce," she tells the mag."I'm sad and I'm scared."
We'd be more scared finding out our husband had a fondness for the SS and white power tattoo models after adopting a black son more than anything. Divorce papers were filed Friday in Austin, Texas, where Bullock has a home, the AP reports. The filing says they have no child younger than 18 entitled to financial support and cited discord and conflict of personalities without "any reasonable expectations of reconciliation" as the cause.
James released a statement to People calling Bullock "the love of my life, but considering the pain and devastation I have caused her, it would be selfish to not let her go." He added: "The love I have for Louis cannot be put to words. Not having him around to love and to hold has left a huge hole in my heart."
Bullock said when Jesse's cheating scandal broke, all she could do was "pack enough clothes to live on, get all of Louis' things and get out of town." But with a heart as big as hers, she holds out hope for her husband and his three other kids, who are still special to her.
"I don't want to know what life is like without those kids. ... Whatever we need to do, in the healthiest way, we are going to be co-parenting," she said.
As for James himself, "I really don't know how our paths will intersect in the future, but the father I have known Jesse to be with all the kids is one that I hope Louis can experience one day, no matter how Jesse and I go on with our lives."
