Sandra Bullock opens school health clinic in New Orleans

Instead of booking travel to D.C. to protest Glenn Beck's nebulous rally on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, several celebs headed to New Orleans for the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Sandra Bullock, for one, spent Sunday dedicating the new health clinic she helped pay for at Warren Easton Charter High School.

Bullock, a part-time New Orleans resident, "adopted" the school after it was ruined by flooding (that's good, because the government sure isn't going to help, we've learned), INF Daily reports. The new facility has medical and dental services, which are sorely needed by the students who attend.

"These young adults have seen the very worst, and they are committed to the very best," Bullock said during her speech before students and the likes of U.S. Sens. Mary Landrieu and David Vitter. "They are our future leaders. I would like to thank the students who step up to the plate and do the hardest work. I didn’t do it in high school, and it makes me so incredibly proud."
