Singer Charice Pempengco may or may not have gotten Botox for role on 'Glee'
Filipina teen singer Charice Pempengco is all set to make her big debut on Glee in the fall, but reports that she got Botox to thin out her face may have been a little exagerrated, her rep says. May have been, we note; we don't put anything past actors these days.
The AP has been pointing out that celebrity cosemetic surgeon Vicki Belo was on ABS-CBN TV and said the 18-year-old had a 30-minute Thermage skin-tightening procedure and Botox to narrow her "naturally round face. " Pempengco was on the same interview, talking about her role on the hit Fox show.
"All people will be anticipating how will Charice look? Is she good enough to pit against Rachel Berry? So of course there is tremendous pressure," Charice said, comparing her character to 23-year-old Lea Michele's Berry. This report caused an uproar, of course, as we don't want a bunch of 18-year-old's thinking they need to get Botox now, so her rep told Us Weekly that the news report is dead wrong and that the procedure was "to relieve a jaw problem similar to TMJ." Yeah, okay.
"It did not hurt; it relieved the pain," Pempengco's rep tells the mag. "You've seen her face -- she doesn't have a wrinkle in it so she wouldn't need it for cosmetic purposes. The Glee people are thrilled with the way she looks which is why she got the part." The rep adds that Charice "has had no makeover other than to change her hair back to its natural color. Other than that, she's not changing anything about the way she looks."
