Singer Gavin DeGraw attacked, beaten in New York
Platinum-selling singer Gavin DeGraw was recovering in New York's Bellevue Hospital after being attacked by a pack of thugs early Monday, the New York Post reported. This is not very good tourist marketing for the Lower East Side.
The 34-year-old Chariot singer had been drinking with friends when he was jumped by three assailants sometime between 3:50 and 4:20 a.m., the Post said. His nose was broken, his face was cut several times and he apparently suffered a concussion before the attackers ran off. The incident didn't seem to be a robbery, sources said. Gavin has a place to live in Manhattan, and owns a bar with his brother in the borough.
To add insult to injury, DeGraw stumbled for several blocks, then was hit by a cab before someone called 911, although the tabloid says he wasn't seriously hurt. He was forced to cancel Tuesday night's concert in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. He has been spending the summer opening for Maroon 5 and Train.
