The Spice Girls (and Vicki) say farewell forever
While we know you’re heartbroken by the Spice Girls abruptly ending their tour, cutting off all those extended dates that were being thrown around, they’ve managed to post a YouTube video that clears things up.
In a two-minute clip, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm and Victoria Beckham hem and haw and plead and whimper about kids needing to go back to school, and they never meant to go back on the road and blah, blah, blah (see the video above).
But what’s much more interesting is Vicki’s assertion to News of the World that she will never sing with the girls again, and only did the reunion in the first place was for her spawn.
“The reason I decided to do the tour was to show my kids that mummy was a pop star once,” she said. “I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. I’m not in the music industry any more. I’m in the fashion industry.”
So when she decided she was going to focus on metallic boleros and fingerless gloves, the group decided their Toronto concert on Feb. 26 will be their last ever. And the clouds part, shining glorious rays of warmth on the land.
