'Star Trek 2' coming in 2013, shooting in 3D
Sure, you're not going to see a new installment of J.J. Abrams' admittedly fun Star Trek reboot next year, but you will see it in 2013. That'd be May 17, 2013, to be precise. And in keeping with Hollywood gimmickry, it'll be shot in 3D, as well. Well, it worked for Avatar, so we'll have to wait and see.
Deadline.com says Roland Emmerich's Singularity getting moved from that pre-Memorial Day date to Nov. 1, 2013, cleared the way for the Enterprise gang. The story is being written by Abrams with Lost scribe Damon Lindelof and Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. Hey, all the best movies have four writers, right?
Abrams' Super 8 kept the wunderkind from reuniting Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto and so on before, but that box office hit was worth the wait, in any event. And just guess what got Star Trek's original June 29, 2012 slot? Paramount's G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Wow. This had better be worth the pain you're putting us through, J.J.
