Stars shining brightly at pre-Grammy bash
Alicia Keys, the Foo Fighters, Daughtry and Akon were just some of the nominees who sang at the event, the AP reports, with Daughtry featuring Slash and Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger joining Chris Daughtry on the mike while Akon teamed up with Wyclef Jean.
Janet Jackson, Quincy Jones and Whitney Houston were there, although Whitney didn't sing despite being on the comeback trail with a new album. Speaking of comebacks, Paula Abdul schmoozed with Randy Jackson and American Idol winner Jordin Sparks.
Rihanna and Chris Brown chatted at a table and Carrie Underwood showed up with Chace Crawford, while couples Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel, Usher and Tameka Foster, and Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz made appearances, as well as new parents Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, who came out with Nicole's dad, Lionel.
Also at the shindig was New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan, who chatted up tennis player Serena Williams (he actually arrived with Eddie Murphy's ex wife Nicole) and got a cheer from the crowd when he was announced. Check out Sean Daly's Pop Life to discuss who won.
