Steven Spielberg wants Chris Hemsworth for 'Robopocalypse'
The biggest Hollywood movie you haven't heard about yet almost has its first star, if Deadline.com is right: Steven Spielberg wants Thor's Chris Hemsworth to take centerstage in the upcoming megaproject, Robopocalypse. The guy from Snow White and the Huntsman starring in a Spielberg movie about humanity battling a robot uprising? This may be the greatest date movie ever made.
The site says Spielberg is champing at the bit to get Hemsworth to sign on the dotted line for the project, which is so big it's being backed by both Disney and Twentieth Century Fox. It's based on the novel by Daniel H. Wilson that was released in June, and is being adapted by Lost's Drew Goddard, who recently rewrote the finale to Brad Pitt's World War Z project.
Robopocalypse is slated to hit theaters on April 25, 2014, and this is Spielberg's first casting move, so there's still plenty of time. Well, if Hemsworth agrees to it, that is. The Australian's pretty busy making Thor 2 and taking care of newborn daughter India these days.
