Survivor's Jeff Probst getting a talk show in the fall
Survivor host Jeff Probst has been voted onto the island, thanks to a deal with CBS to have his own talk show. Gee, do you think the set will look anything like tribal council?
Entertainment Weekly says CBS TV Distribution has cut deals with 16 of the top 20 markets to air a one-hour syndicated program next fall that will deal with a wide range of topics and not just who stole whom's toothbrush. "Stations enthusiastically embraced our and Jeff’s vision for re-creating the classic talk show," CTD president John Nogawski said in a statemtent. "Jeff developed his listening and storytelling skills on the prime-time hit Survivor, and his hosting appeal was cemented on Live With Regis and Kelly and Larry King Live. Jeff has the ingredients to become an instant asset to stations and provide a strong lead in to their newscasts."
And why did the network decide Probst was a worthy addition to the lineup? Hey, with Oprah Winfrey gone, the field is wide open.
"I'm fascinated with people," Probst said in the statement. "And I love adventure. I can't wait to bring these two worlds together in daytime, and the added bonus is I get to continue with Survivor in primetime." It'll be interesting to see if Jeff gets to take his show on the road while shooting in all those remote locations for that show.
