Sylvester Stallone reveals new cast for 'Expendables 2'
Last year's The Expendables proved there was still a big market for washed-up 1990s action heroes, so what could be more appropriate than for Sylvester Stallone to make a sequel? And next time, he's going to parade out even more stars of yesteryear.
"We'll have a big showdown between me and (Jean-Claude) Van Damme, which has been anticipated for a long time, so it should be a good one," Stallone told Entertainment Weekly, noting Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger would have expanded roles this time, too. "We've got Chuck Norris and I think Nic Cage. We're trying to work out different scenarios. I like using people that had a moment and then maybe have fallen on some hard times and give them another shot. So we're always looking for actors like Michael Biehn and Michael Pare. ... We also need some new blood in there, a Navy Seal-type, because with the Expendables none of them have 20-20 vision anymore. They need some help, man."
A further addition may include John Travolta, whom he mentions as a possible inclusion, as well. With all that dimming mega-wattage, it's no wonder they have to film in cheaptastic Bulgaria starting later this month. Maybe all those guys will be working for scale, lest they be forced to break the $1 billion mark just to pay salaries.
