Taylor Swift talks about Kanye West at the VMAs

September

Tbd-taylorswift091509 So of course the big question of the day is, was Kanye West's outburst at the VMAs on Sunday night staged? Not according to Special K victim Taylor Swift, who said the hip-hopper's ranting shout-out to Beyonce was a surprise.

"Well, I was standing on stage because I was really excited because I had just won the award," Swift told Us. "And then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage. And then I wasn't so excited anymore after that."

And it doesn't sound like Beyonce's last-minute relinquishment of the stage so Taylor could finish her acceptance speech was planned from the beginning.

"They told me to stand by the side of the stage, and I didn't really know what was going to go down," the 19-year-old said. "But I thought it was so wonderful and gracious of her to do what she's always done. She's always been a great person before anything else."

We still think this was a ll some master plan to get people to tune into The Jay Leno Show tonight. He kinda-sorta apologized on his blog a couple times, including saying, "I feel like Ben Stiller in 'Meet the Parents' when he messed up everything and Robert De Niro asked him to leave...      That was Taylor's moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her. I am truly sorry." How heartfelt.

And while some celebrities took to Twitter almost immediately to rant about West -- Pink said via @PiNK, "Kanye west is the biggest piece of s--- on earth. Quote me." and Katy Perry tweeted on @katyperRy "F--- U KANYE. ITS LIKE U STEPPED 0N A KITTEN." -- Swift has no hard feelings.

"I don't know him, and I've never met him, so ..." she said. "I don't want to start anything because I had a great night tonight."

You know who else had a great night? MTV, which was somehow able to make the VMAs relevant again. Good job, MTV.

Here it is on video, in case you missed it:
